Tan Sri Annuar Musa says Kelantan have to underline their domestic supremacy by staying undefeated in the Malaysia Cup
Kelantan supremo Tan Sri Annuar Musa wants ‘The Red Warriors’ to show the nation that they are the best team in the land by staying unbeaten all the way to the Malaysia Cup title.
Annuar highlighted the fact that his team are the sole representatives of Malaysia in the AFC Cup should mean that they are one level above the other teams in this country at least.
“We are the only team still representing the country at AFC Cup level so we shouldn’t lose to any local teams,” he told Goal.com.
The 56-year-old politician added that he believes Kelantan’s first team is strong enough to win the competition and the loan players brought in do not reflect weakness in the squad.
“Our first eleven is strong enough.”
“I don’t think players from outside can replace them. They’re not better than what we already have but at least they can provide cover in case of injuries.”
Kelantan have signed three players on loan to beef up their squad for the Malaysia Cup campaign, namely Haslam Haja Najumudeen and Afiq Azmi from Kuala Lumpur as well as Sabah’s Mafry Balang.
These signings are hoped to give head coach Bojan Hodak the option to rest key players when necessary, as Kelantan aim to be in the best shape possible for the AFC Cup quarter-final double-header with Iraq’s SC Arbil next month.
Having bagged two major trophies so far, Annuar assured the fans that Kelantan will give their all to ensure that the coveted Malaysia Cup is brought back to Kota Bharu at the end of October.
“I’m aware that the Malaysia Cup is tougher than the league and the FA Cup but we have to maintain our reputation as the number one team in Malaysia so we’ll try our best to get that treble.”
