SELANGOR will be hoping to shed their "draw specialist" tag when they meet Johor FC in a Super League match on their return to the Shah Alam Stadium today.
The team have won just five and drawn six of their 14 matches and coach Irfan Bakti is upset with his team's inability to win more consistently.
"We lack the instinct to win matches. It is a problem that we need to solve fast," said Irfan.
"(K.) Devan's resignation could affect Johor FC tomorrow (today) and I hope my team will take this opportunity and beat them for the first time this season."
Johor FC edged Selangor on penalties in last month's second round of the FA Cup before the teams drew 1-1 in last weekend's league match.
Selangor, however, hope their return to the Shah Alam Stadium, which was closed for five months for renovations, would inspire them to victory today.
Selangor FA general-secretary Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said his team need nothing less than three points to re-ignite their title ambitions.
"We have done so much, including organising motivational talks, to help our players regain their confidence. They have improved but not at the level of winning matches consistently.
"We have the ability to beat the top teams but somehow struggle against the lower sides. We cannot afford to continue like this," said Hamidin.
Selangor's strikeforce has improved following the arrival of Bosko Balaban but the Croatian, who has scored six goals, is still far from his best.
"We tend to be wasteful infront of the opponent's goal. Balaban and his teammates will have to work harder," Hamidin added.
Meanwhile, Singapore's LionsXII will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend's rare league defeat to PKNS FC as both teams meet again at Jalan Besar Stadium today.
PKNS ended the Lions' 10-match unbeaten run by edging the Singapore side 1-0 in Kelana Jaya.
"We need to avoid defeat at all cost or our title ambitions could be affected. I need to re-shuffle as a few key players are injured," said Lions' coach V. Sundramoorthy.
