Barclays Premier League champions have touched down in Kuala Lumpur

Manchester City arrive in Kuala Lumpur for pre-season friendly match against a confident Malaysian side

With a world class team that would make even Europe’s most prestigious clubs turn green with envy, Manchester City boast some of the planet’s biggest superstars in Sergio “Kun” Aguero, Carlos Tevez as well as Vincent Kompany – and Malaysians will for the very first time get to watch them in action when the newly-crowned English Premier League champions cross swords with the Malaysian XI.

Still smarting from a comfortable 2-0 victory over fellow Premiership contenders Arsenal in Beijing yesterday, City manager Roberto Mancini and his troops landed in Kuala Lumpur today for their date with the Malaysian team at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil on July 30. Among the other headliners of the Citizen’s entourage are the famous Toure brothers, Kolo and Yaya, as well as internationals Alexsandar Kolarov, Adam Johnson and Pablo Zabaleta.

In the first of the Malaysian outfit’s double-headers against EPL juggernauts, over 53,000 football fanatics were thrilled to an electrifying match at the National Stadium on Tuesday when the Tigers dished out a highly commendable display against Arsenal.

The Malaysians had drawn first blood against the Gunners with Azmi Muslim’s first-half screamer before succumbing late in the game to goals by Thomas Eisfeld (87th) and Chucks Aneke (90th).

For their highly-anticipated showdown against City, national coach Datuk K. Rajagobal is aiming to use the positives from their last match as he plots to get the better of his more fancied opponents.

“The Arsenal game has boosted our confidence. We hold City in high regard but won’t give them too much respect. If we play like how we did against Arsenal, I dare say that we could even snatch a win over City,” said an optimistic Rajagobal.

Julian Kam, chief executive officer of ProEvents Group, the leading football marketing and management consultancy in Asia responsible for making this match possible, said: “We are proud to bring the English Premier League champions Manchester City to Malaysia. We hope they will have a good pre-season training in Malaysia and wish them all the best for the new season.”

Tickets for the match are priced at RM58, RM68, RM108 and limited VIP tickets at RM388. Tickets are available at all Ticketpro outlets nationwide, Ticketpro hotline 03-7880-7999 and www.ticketpro.com.my.

NOTE: Manchester City Training Session will be held on 29th July 2012 (Sunday), 5.30PM at National Stadium, Bukit Jalil.
