Skuad B22 Kebangsaan yang sedang membuat persiapan untuk menyertai kelayakan AFC bulan depan mengadakan beberapa perlawanan pesahabatan. Perlawanan pertama menyaksikan mereka tewas 0-5 kepada Ferencvaros, kelab Divisyen Satu Hungry.
THE national Under-22 squad received a boost ahead of next month's AFC Qualifiers when they drew 2-2 with a team comprising Brazilian players on trial with top Hungarian division clubs in Budapest on Sunday.
Azrif Nasrulhaq scored his first international goal in the first half before Ahmad Hazwan Bakri added their second in the 53rd minute only for the Brazilian Selection to score in injury time to force a draw.
National coach Ong Kim Swee said his team played well as a unit.
"We played a quality game but once again we conceded a late goal in the second half. We need to find a way to stop doing that before the qualifiers," said Kim Swee when contacted in Budapest yesterday.
"I reshuffled the squad and tried out new combinations. My two centre-backs Fandi (Othman) and Shahrul Saad were the best performers."
The Under-22 squad, who left for Budapest last week, started their stint losing 5-0 to Hungarian Division One club Ferencvaros.
They play Honved Budapest tomorrow.
"I've decided on the core players for the AFC Qualifiers but not on the rest to make up the squad.
"Honved will be our toughest opponents here and this match will give me the opportunity to gauge the performance of my best 15 trainees," said the former international.
Honved, who comprise several internationals, finished fourth in the just-concluded Hungarian league.
Meanwhile, Kim Swee revealed that the Slovakia FA has offered his squad to play in its Under-19 league, which starts in August.
"It is, of course, a good offer as it will help our younger players improve. We need to plan a programme for our juniors and I believe the FA of Malaysia (FAM) is looking at this offer," Kim Swee added
