SUPER LEAGUE : Preview Kedah vs PKNS

Kedah tekad mengekalkan kecemerlangan mengikat Lions XII 3-3 di Singapura dan memperbaiki kedudukan Liga.

Kedah and PKNS will be looking to improve their lowly league positions in the table when both teams meet at the Stadium Darul Aman

It has been a below par campaign for Kedah so far, who are now languishing in eleventh place at the wrong end of the table. PKNS don’t fare any better, sitting twelfth in the 14 team standings.

Kedah coach Wan Jamak Wan Hassan was pleased with his side after they managed to hold Lions XII to a 3-3 draw last Saturday. If not for some careless defensive display, the Canaries could have snatched a win away from home.

This time around Wan Jamak will be hoping that his defenders can stay focused as Kedah’s defence have been accused of losing concentration in the second half to allow opponents to score.

Frenchman Alfatah Safi who looks to have regained his best form, is set to once again dictate the play from midfield for Kedah. In attack, national striker Khyril Muhymeen is set to partner Vedran Gerc. The pair have struck eight goals between them in the last four matches and Wan Jamak is hoping that their partnership will continue to flourish.

PKNS on the other hand need to get themselves a moral boost after crashing to a 3-0 defeat to Kelantan last weekend.

Coach Abdul Rahman Ibrahim will be hoping that his players are well prepared physically and mentally for this game as he knows that any slip ups can be costly and will decrease their chances of finishing in the top half of the table.

It will be interesting to see how PKNS’ defence deal with Kedah’s attacks, which mostly are orchestrated from midfield. If they can stop playmaker Alfatah Safi from pulling the strings, they will stand a chance to at least steal a point off Kedah. But they must not forget that Kedah have other players such as Baddrol Bakhtiar and Amar Rohidan who can create something out of nothing.

Kedah will also have a big task in their hands and that is to stop PKNS striker Mickael Dawood Nicoise. The Frenchman is on a goal drought of late but when he’s on form, could be real handful to any defenders.

Expect a few goals in this match as both teams will be eager to score in order to improve their league positions.
